In honor of Carter G. Woodson's National Negro History Week, we launched Black Geek Week Nashville as part of our Black History Month festivities starting Sunday, February 11, 2018. The week’s events center around the release of Marvel's Black Panther and a celebration of those who have pushed the boundaries of thought and technology.

The event will feature the screening of the documentary With Purpose as well as provide related hands-on STEAM activities to youth from underserved communities in the Metro Nashville Area. As a story of young African-American divers engaged in marine archaeology, searching for the slave ship Guerrero, sunk off the coast of Florida in 1827 with 561 captured Africans on board.
